Definition of the Topic |

Isaac Newton was an English physicist, mathematician and astronomer. He is famous for the three laws of motion and the law of universal gravitation. His most important book is called the Principia, and it is considered one of the most important books in the history of science.‎

Importance of the Topic |

Studying Newton is important because his discoveries are the basis of classical physics. Engineers use his laws to build bridges, cars and airplanes, and scientists use them to calculate the paths of planets and satellites. His life also teaches us that patience and hard work lead to great success.‎

Newton's Life | حياة نيوتن

Isaac Newton was born in Woolsthorpe, a small village in Lincolnshire in England. His father died before he was born, and his mother later married another man, so young Isaac was raised mostly by his grandmother. He was a quiet boy who loved to build small machines and models.‎

Later he studied at Trinity College in Cambridge University. When a terrible plague closed the university, he went back to his family home and continued his studies alone. Many historians say that this quiet period was one of the most productive times in his life.‎

The Three Laws of Motion |

LawMeaning in English
First law‎An object stays at rest or moves in a straight line unless a force acts on it.‎يبقى الجسم ساكنًا أو متحركًا في خط مستقيم ما لم تؤثر عليه قوة.
Second law‎Force equals mass times acceleration.‎
Third law‎For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.‎

F = m × a

Newton published these laws in his famous book, the Principia, in the year 1687 and used them to explain how objects move on the Earth and in the sky.‎

Gravity |

A well-known story says that Newton saw an apple fall from a tree and began to think about gravity. Whether the story is exactly true or not, Newton did discover that the same force that pulls an apple to the ground also keeps the Moon moving around the Earth. This idea is called the law of universal gravitation.‎

The law says that every object in the universe attracts every other object. The force becomes stronger when the masses are larger, and weaker when the distance between them is greater.‎

Light and Telescope |

Newton also studied light. He used a glass prism to show that white light is made of many colours, like the colours of the rainbow. He also built a new kind of telescope that uses a mirror instead of a lens, and it is called a reflecting telescope. Modern observatories still use this idea.‎

Mathematics |

In mathematics Newton developed the ideas of calculus, which is a branch of mathematics used to study change and motion. The German scientist Gottfried Leibniz also developed calculus separately, and calculus is now used in physics, engineering, economics and many other fields.‎

Later Life | أواخر حياته

In his later years Newton moved to London and became the head of the Royal Mint. He was also elected president of the Royal Society, an important scientific society, and he was knighted by the Queen. He died in London and was buried in Westminster Abbey, a place where the great people of Britain are honoured.‎
